Andrez Bergen Strikes Again with "Depth Charging Ice Planet Goth"

Our friend from Tokyo, Andrez Bergen, has just published his fourth novel, Depth Charging Ice Planet Goth.

The book is a fascinating coming of age tale told from the point of view of a teenage girl in 1980s Melbourne, Australia. I read a preview copy recently and found that it held my interest. Things are not always what they seem in this story, but pay attention from page one and you'll have a good idea of what's going on. It's different from his prior novels but it has the same style, with lots of pop culture references. It is available on Amazon here; get it on Kindle for only $2.99!

Here is some of the publicity for this book:

"What I remember of '80s flick Heathers with a little bit of Fight Club, slamming into This Boy's Life and Dogs in Space — while Jimmy Stewart's Harvey looks on."

The upcoming novel by Andrez Bergen, author of Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat and Who is Killing the great Capes of Heropa?

'She's a disturbed, quiet girl, but Mina wants to do some good out there. It's just that the world gets in the way. This is Australia in the 1980s, a haven for goths and loners, where a coming-of-age story can only veer into a murder mystery.'

CRITICAL APPRAISAL

"Andrez Bergen introduces us to his most remarkable character in a dark, gothic tale — truly fabulous storytelling, and to my mind the author's best."
Katy O'Dowd, In Glorious Technicolor

"Vivid imagery delivered in a lucid, dreamlike narrative. This is an enthralling tale of survival, endurance and growing up that sinks its claws deep."
